Llandeilo Town 4 Dafen 1 Carmarthenshire League Reserve Division Two Llandeilo's second string finished the season with a fantastic result on Saturday, giving high flying Dafen a lesson in possession football.
Llandeilo started superbly and looked completely comfortable on and off the ball, and they took the lead on 20 minutes when striker Lloyd Humphries brilliantly chested the ball into the path of David Bevan who lashed the ball past the Dafen keeper.
This seemed to stun the away team into action who only three days earlier had won the Darch Cup by beating Pontardulais 5-1 and needed to win this game to gain promotion to Division One.
They started to assert their authority on to the game, but Llandeilo limited them to long range efforts and hopeful crosses and keeper Matthew Thomas' handling was superb.
One nil at half time, and Llandeilo took to the field for the second half hoping to increase their advantage.
With only ten minutes gone, Bevan burst free from midfield and coolly slotted the ball home for his second.
Llandeilo were on cloud nine now and really turned the heat, with Beaver Bevan completing his hat-trick with another nice finish.
Dafen were at sixes and sevens now, and Llandeilo grabbed a fourth when keeper Thomas' long goal kick found the head of the Dafen centre back which beat his keeper for an own goal.
Dafen did grab a consolation in the last minute, but this was Llandeilo's day and surely the best result of a difficult season.
Special mentions must go to Charles Walters and Dan Prosser who were nothing short of magnificent at the back, hat-trick hero David Bevan and veteran striker Mark Swindells who caused all sorts of problems for Dafen.
The Match Ball Sponsor for this game was Ieuan Evans & Son, Tegfan Garage which the Club would like to thank for their support.
Coach Barry John has done a great job this season, and Llandeilo reserves finish in eighth place, some eight points clear of relegation.
Barry would like to thank all the players who have turned out for the reserves this season.
