WRU Championship: Rhydyfelin 13-36 Narberth

IT’S now three wins from three in the Championship for Narberth as they turned in their most complete display of the campaign so far at Rhydyfelin.

The foundations were laid by a strong front row performance, with Bradley Davies, Rhodri Owens, Tom Kaijaks dominating the scrum throughout, but The Otters were also clinical out wide as they ran in five tries.

The visitors were 8-14 up at the break and maintained their intensity in the second half, with Jack Price again proving how crucial his return could be with two tries scored in his typical fashion.

Another summer recruit Andrew Cooke also went over as did centre Kieron Jones and winger Jonny Morgan, as the home side failed to live with the intensity of Sean Gale’s team.

Full back Ianto Griffiths continued his form with boot as he landed four conversions and a second half penalty, while for Rhydyfelin, there were tries for Garyn Lucas and Kerry Jones, while Dai Gratton landed a penalty.

“We were generally dominant all round,” said Narberth team manager Chris James afterwards.

“The front row had a great day, going forward at almost every scrum, and we spread the ball and used the wide channels with great pace and accuracy.”

Indeed, it was Kaijaks who was adjudged man of the match, and this Saturday The Otters go to Newcastle Emlyn looking for a fourth Championship win on the bounce.

Cardiff Met and Pontypool are the only other two teams in the Division to remain unbeaten.
