FAW Trophy – Round 2: Hakin United 7-2 Port Tennant Colts

HAKIN United came from behind to hammer Swansea outfit Port Tennant Colts at the Obs and progress in the FAW Trophy.
Things didn’t start well for Kristan Bennett’s Vikings as they found themselves 2-0 adrift.

But Daniel Armstrong pulled a goal back before the break, and in the second half it was totally one-way traffic.

Shane Walsh pounced for the equaliser and then Justin Harding bagged a quick fire hat-trick - before Adam John added the sixth and Harding scored his fourth as Hakin sailed into Round 3.

Hakin United: Gareth Fawcett, Jimmy Walker, Mark Jones, Daniel Armstrong, Leigh Marchant, Camron Thomas, Alex Ouzman, Jake Merry, Adam John, Shane Walsh, Justin Harding. Subs: Nicky Woodrow, Craig Nicholson, James Williams.

Merlins Bridge 2-6 Swansea University

WELSH League Division Two Swansea University proved too strong for Merlins Bridge at the Racecourse as they deservedly reached the next round of the FAW Trophy.

Nick Hyden gave the visitors the lead in the 43rd minute and four minutes after half time Dan Sheehan struck their second. Will Toms added a third - but with 20 to go Matthew D’Ivry pulled one back with a right foot shot from 15 yards across the keeper.

But Hyden added the fourth from the penalty spot and Joe Leahy rifled a 20 yarder into the top corner for the Wizards, but further goals by Dan Barnard and Marley Bishop-Wisdom sealed a thoroughly deserved win for the students.

Merlins Bridge: Gary Thomas, Matthew D’Ivry, Jordan Thomas, Peter Thomas, Andrew John, Simon Thomas, Ashley Beck, Josh Thomas, Will Haworth, Adam Hawkins, Joe Leahy. Subs: Leon Pemberthy, Ben Davies.

Referee: Angus Scourfield.
