National League Division 3 West Central

Pantyffynnon – 20

Furnace – 14

PANTY started the new season with a hard fought & bruising encounter at a packed out Shakey Bridge Stadium.

It was a fast start from the hosts who were 10-0 after 30 minutes.

A powerful run from wing Will Griffiths allowed him to open his account for the season, and a conversion and penalty from hooker Nick James put the hosts firmly in control.

Panty then suffered a yellow card for a tip tackle, which spurred the visitors into action, they responded with a three pointer themselves only for James to respond in kind to leave the half time score at 13-3.

Furnace started the second period far better and put Panty under pressure for long periods, but were met with a ferocious and aggressive defence which ultimately guided the hosts to victory.

The result was put beyond doubt when kiwi debutant Danny Davidson crossed following good footwork from Matthew James.

Furnace rallied with a few late penalties to secure a losing bonus point, but it was Panty who walked away with the win.
