St Clears – 12

Amman United – 6

AMMAN United sunk to defeat at St Clears, in a game that leaves them in danger of relegation.

United now lie seven points from safety following defeat.

On an attritional Parc Griffiths Jones pitch, Saints shaded the early exchanges, but in a scrappy forward battle took twenty minutes to open the scoring as, from a pick and drive, a crossfield kick enabled wing and skipper Matthew Lewis to gather and score a try in the corner.

Tom Thorneycroft was held up on a storming surge for the visitors, but St Clears were penalised, and the returning Rhys Thomas made no mistake with the short-range penalty on 32 minutes.

United were undone from a lineout for the second Saints try. The catch and drive was the starting point as the hosts found a gap to crash over.

Amman ‘s pressure forced a penalty and Rhys Thomas sent it over. Frustratingly for Amman, the hosts desperately held on for the battling victory.
