Ysgol Dyffryn Aman are proud to have been nominated in two categories for the Actif Carmarthenshire Sports Awards to be held at the Ffwrnes Theatre in Llanelli this Friday, February 2.
The awards help recognise the sporting achievements and successes of individuals, sports clubs, school teams as well as acknowledging the contribution made by dedicated coaches and volunteers who really make a difference through sport and to our communities.
Year 13 student and Head Boy Sion Thomas has been nominated for the Young Sports Leader of the Year Award.
Sion has already won the Welsh FAW Football Director of the Year Award, for his time and effort helping to run the Lidl Play More Football scheme within the school.
Sion has also been elected as the Gold Sports Ambassador within the school and Carmarthenshire, helping to organise various sports clubs and events for all pupils.
The Dyffryn Aman senior girls seven-a-side rugby team have once again been nominated for the Young Team Of The Year Award having already won it last year.
Since winning the award, the school has gone on to become the first school team in the history of the prestigious Rosslyn Park 7's tournament to win the under 18's senior girls cup three years in a row.
The girls will travel to London in March to try and retain the cup for a fourth successive year.
As well as the youngsters, Amman United RFC has been nominated in the Team of the Year catergory.
The award is open for any male or female (open) team who have achieved success at a high level within their sport.
