Welsh League Division Two

Chepstow Town 1

Cwmamman United 2

Cwmamman returned from east Wales both disappointed and relieved in equal measure after securing all three points by just a single goal despite totally dominating against a team currently bottom of the division.

The visitors should have been in front inside the first five minutes but were kept out by some fine saves from home keeper Nick King as well as their own wastefulness.

David Brown then saw a pile-driver blocked by a Chepstow defender while Jordan Langley's header went narrowly wide.

Chepstow's only effort in the first half was a Liam Head shot which went sailing wide.

Cwmamman were increasingly becoming frustrated with the delaying tactics of the home side by slowing down every aspect of the game but the referee didn't do anything to speed up things by Chepstow.

Cwmamman continued to dominate after the restart, but once again Chepstow seemed content to hold out for an unexpected draw.

However, the visitors finally made the breakthrough on 65 minutes when Liam Soroka's low drive went through a crowd of players before striking the inside of the left-hand post and nestling in the net.

With the dam finally broken, Cwmamman expected to make easy work of what remained of the fixture, but good chances continued to go begging.

Steven Hughes’ effort flew narrowly wide while Langley saw one shot go past the post and another well saved by King.

The visitors profligacy came back to haunt them on 80 minutes when Adam Wakeley fired in Chepstow's only shot on target and Mark Snell parried the ball into the roof of the net.

With the hosts happy to cling on for a point, the visitors grew increasingly frustrated at what they saw as home time-wasting.

Despite their annoyance, Cwmamman created several chances in the closing stages although it appeared a case of two points dropped until deep into stoppage time.

In the fourth minute of additional time Langley fired in a low shot from 25 yards.

King stood back seemingly assuming the ball was going wide only for it to creep inside his right post.

The referee found another two minutes of time but there was no comeback for the hosts and the final whistle was greet with disappointment and joy by the opposing fans.

Next week Cwmamman United host Penrhiwceiber Rangers (KO 2pm) while the Reserves travel to FC Clydach (KO 2.30pm).
