League One West Central

Ammanford 35 Bonymaen 0

Ammanford welcomed third-placed Bonymaen to the Recreation Ground with the aim of overturning the last minute defeat suffered at the visitors’ Parc Mawr in October.

The hosts, second in League One West Central, again started well with outside half Rhydian Morris going over early and converting his own try for a 7–0 lead.

An excellent break by Tom Rees was then finished off by Andrew Owen and Morris added the extras to double the Ammanford advantage.

The try of the game was scored by Dafydd Pritchard who took a high ball on his own 22 and ran at the visitors. Some nifty footwork from the wing opened up the defence and allowed him race in for the touchdown. Morris again added the extras.

The visitors finally got a foothold in the game after the early onslaught and put together a series of attacks to put the hosts under severe pressure, forcing Morris to infringe close to the line and pick up a yellow card.

The increasing pressure saw tempers flare and a major altercation saw the referee showing a further two yellows to Ammanford while two Bonymaen players each saw red and another yellow so the half ended with a 12 on each side.

Within 10 minutes of the restart, the player staff was 15-13 in Ammanford’s favour and any chance for Bonymaen was gone.

The visitors continued to play hard and limited Ammanford to just two further tries.

Firstly, Craig Woodall went over under the posts and Morris again converted.

The final try came from flanker Chris Morris who threw a dummy on the half way then rolled back the years to his junior days at centre to show the defence a clean pair of heels and race over the line. Morris finished with a perfect day of five from five.
