Cwmbran Celtic 3 Ammanford 0

Ammanford slipped to third in the table after a 3-0 loss at second-placed Cwmbran Celtic, writes Nick Davies.

In an end-to-end start, the hosts headed over a good opportunity at the back post before Mikey Morris saw his dipped effort tipped over the bar for the visitors.

Ammanford had the majority of possession, however dwelling on the ball proved their downfall when, as Matthew Harding dallied, Celtic’s Josh Bull took control of the situation and fired home the opener on 18 minutes.

Mathew Fisher nearly responded in style when he let loose a half volley from 30 yards, but it fell just wide.

The home side doubled their advantage on 33 minutes when Dominic Connor smashed home the second.

After the break, Ammanford nearly responded with their first attack. Dayle Selvage lobbed the ball down the right flank for Craig Frater, who was dispossessed on the edge of the area, but it fell nicely for Kurt Morgan, who leant back on his shot, which flew over.

On 59 minutes, the visitors almost reduced the deficit, but Fisher’s stab at goal from close range was parried away.

Ammanford’s pressure on the Cwmbran goal was confounded on 77 minutes though, as Celtic extended their advantage. Daf Jones punched a cross away from goal, but it landed at the feet of Celtic winger, Chris Ham, who collected himself before coolly slotting into the open goal.

Ammanford made late substitutions, but it was all too late for the away side to salvage anything from the game.
