Ammanford 4 Loughor A 3

FOLLOWING the poor loss away to Wellfield last week, the young Ammanford side stepped up and got a vital three points in a tough fought, mid-table contest.

Ammanford started superbly well, with Dan Thomas finding the top corner with an attempted cross. The hosts continued their good attacking play and got a second soon after.

Fullback Owain Jones found Rhodri Jones up front who cushioned it down for Josh Murray to score a tremendous left-footed half volley – a well-deserved goal for the youngster’s performance.

Loughor didn’t give up and came back into the game, testing centre backs Jack Conway and Chris Williams.

However, both were equal to the task.

Goalkeeper Darren Warnes added to the stability, being quick off his line to clear any through balls.

Ammanford then got a third when left winger Joe Evans’ cross found right winger Kyle Grazette to nod in. This was followed by a superb celebration by the youngster with the Ammanford team in joyful spirits.

The hosts started the second half poorly as Loughor came out firing. They quickly got a goal back within five minutes, then following a key injury setback to the hosts, the visitors capitalised and brought the score level to 3-3.

Loughor then looked the more likely to score, but front man Jones fired in the winner following positive play by Liam Jones and Curtis Jones down the left flank.

Ammanford needed to see the game out with Harry Brook, Tom Brook and Jake Webb providing extra effort in regaining and keeping possession.

The hosts eventually held on after a tiring game that could have been a season changer.

The mood was positive afterwards with the hosts in jubilant spirits as they look to cause an upset at league table-toppers Seaside, next week.
