It has been a busy week for Llandovery with players involved on fronts home and away between Thursday and Sunday

The Drovers played Newcastle Emlyn away on Thursday night and five players represented the Scarlets in the Singha Premiership Rugby 7s Series Final at Twickenham Stoop on Friday night.

Will Thomas shone in the Scarlets side that faced Bedford at a Church Bank on Saturday and there were two sevens squads and 24 players in action on Sunday – one at the Fosters 7s and the other at the Aberaeron 7s.

“It is testimony to the hard work and commitment of our coaches and supporting staff that so many of our players were good enough to be involved at fifteen and seven a side rugby at different levels over four hectic days” said Llandovery chairman Handel Davies.

The Drovers took a lot of promising players who will be pushing for a Premiership spot down to Newcastle Emlyn and came away with a stylish win over the newly promoted Championship side.

The Llandovery defence was watertight throughout with Richard Rees leading the way from the back row whilst the backs looked lively and creative throughout,

Flanker Stuart Worrall, No 8 Richard Brooks and wing Josh Hodson crossed in the first half before Rees , hooker Tom Ball and wing Jevon Barnes added second half tries.

Goal kickers Steffan Marshall and Joseff Morgan shared four conversions.

At the Singha Premiership Sevens Aron Evans, Lee Rees, Rhodri Jones, Aaron Warren and Matthew Jacobs made significant contributions to the Scarlets cause.

Warren scored two brilliant tries in the 31-26 win over Newcastle Falcons and Rees grabbed another but the Scarlets went out to the Wasps in the semi-final 33-12.

On Saturday the Scarlets took on Bedford Blues – coached by ex-Wales full back Mike Rayer – and Llandovery’s new signing Will Thomas confirmed his promise with an eye catching performance off the bench.

It was not enough to turn the tide against a Bedford side that well deserved its 27-13 win.
