Welsh League Division Two

Llwydcoed 0

Ammanford 2

Ammanford maintained their unbeaten start to life in Division Two after a 2-0 away win against AFC Llwydcoed, courtesy of goals from Kurt Morgan and Lloyd Davies in the second half, writes Nick Davies.

The home side got the first shot on goal after just a minute, but it sailed wide of the mark.

Ammanford then got their first effort on target seven minutes in when Ross Morgan and Mikey Morris had some good interplay in the opposition half, before Morris fired an effort straight at the goalkeeper.

The winger again went close when he latched onto a tremendous lobbed ball by Davies, but he could only see his effort go sailing over the bar.

Llwydcoed went close on the half hour mark, but an effort on goal was cleared away by Rhys Fisher close to the goalline.

Just before the interval, Morris went down after a challenge in the area, but the referee waved away claims for a penalty.

James Murray played a delightful through ball for Ross Morgan before the end of the half, but the forward fired wide, spurning a good opportunity.

After the break, Ammanford came close to breaking the deadlock when Fisher’s long throw into the area was flicked on, but the effort was cleared off the line.

But, the deadlock was broken on 60 minutes by the away side when Dayle Selvage’s free kick from 25 yards rocketed onto the crossbar, but Kurt Morgan was on hand to tap home the rebound.

With 15 minutes remaining, Ross Morgan’s low drilled effort was parried straight into the path of Ashley Richards, who fired home from close range, but the striker’s effort was disallowed for a foul.

But, it mattered for little in the end as the forward then crossed from the right for Davies to tap home and double the visitors’ advantage to ensure they claimed all three points.
