Pomntarddulais (174-3) beat Ammanford (172) by seven wickets

Ammanford suffered their second consecutive league defeat on Saturday going down by seven wickets at Pontarddulais.

Bont got off to a dream start by trapping Hedd Jones lbw with the match's first delivery.

Fellow opener Rhys Davies was shortly afterwards the victim of mid-track confusion and was run out for eight.

Batting mainstays Matthew Fisher and skipper Alun Evans (27) gave the score a bit of respectability, though the best stand of the innings was between Fisher (57) and Gareth Slade (25).

Matthew Roberts chipped in at the end with18, but it was another poor batting display from Ammanford, who continue to rely on the same kernel of players to get the runs.

Bont's star bowler was Owen Morgan with four for 22.

Tom Maynard got the visitors off to a good start by clean bowling Bont opener Paul Rees with the score at one.

A terrific catch from Rhys Davies - again off Maynard - got rid of Matthew Carey, but the arrival at the crease of man of the match Owen Morgan (69no) signalled the depressing end of Ammanford's hopes.

A half-century stand with the patient James Hendrickson (16) was followed by an unbroken century stand with captain Gary Arrowsmith (65no) which saw Bont reach a straightforward seven-wicket victory with five overs to spare.

Ammanford slip to fifth place in the table, just five ahead of Bont.

Next week they play at fourth-place Port Talbot Town, while on Sunday the re-scheduled Welsh Cup quarter-final sees Mumbles visit the Park.
