Cwmaman 74 Llanelli Steel 52.5
THE Cwmaman renaissance continued with a convincing win over Llanelli Steel at Garnant Park green.
And most encouragingly, Cwm, who have struggled to field a team since the season started and found themselves on the brink of extinction just a few weeks ago, were again able to put out a full side.
The visit of the Steelmen even saw the hosts include two debut-making youngsters, Iestyn James and Shaun Phillips, who have progressed from the Ysgol y Bedol “academy” following successful coaching sessions held by the club.
Ironically, it was Steel who were forced to play three short, playing a man down on three of the four rinks.
The disadvantage ensured their scores were therefore reduced by a quarter which proved crucial, particularly tough on Rink Five, which they drew 15-15 before the deductions kicked in.
The result saw Cwmaman claim 12 league points to the Steel’s two.
Rink scores:
Rink Two: Lynne Bray, Simon Hawker, Laurence Molloy, James Davies (skip) 11; I Kearney 18.75.
Rink Three: Gareth Williams, Iestyn James, Mike Williams, Dyfed Lewis (skip) 30; Llanelli Steel 11.25.
Rink Four: Julie Williams, Shaun Phillips, Alan Thomas, John Sam Jones (skip) 18; Llanelli Steel 11.25.
Rink Five: Alec Leslie, Tony Bray, Norman Raeburn, Byron Davies (skip) 15; M Griffiths 11.25.
Cwmaman travel to Llandeilo on Saturday.
