Welsh Cup Cricket
Round Two
Ammanford beat Neyland
Ammanford travelled to Neyland for their 40 over Welsh Cup fixture on Sunday.
The home team batted first on what at best could be described as a questionable surface.
The Pembrokeshire side managed to reach 144, their final wicket being run out on the last ball of the innings.
Mason Banner top scored with 47, helped by Scott Jones (25) and Alistair Smith (29).
For Ammanford, Alun Evans took three wickets while Sean Coaker and Kael Ace took a couple each.
Ammanford lost both openers with the score on 26, but Alun Evans (38) and Matthew Fisher (21) put on 49 before both disappeared in quick succession.
This signalled a middle order collapse to 85 for six, and the visitors found themselves needing 60 from the last 15 overs.
Fortunately, they had the men to do it in Gareth Slade (29no) who had a great weekend with the bat, and Nathan Jones (24no).
These two polished off the runs with three overs and four wickets to spare.
Next Sunday, Ammanford welcome Llangennech to the Park for a SWCA T20 fixture.
