Ystradgynlais 3 Bryn Rovers 4

Bryn celebrated a double over neighbours and reigning champions Ystradgynlais with a fantastic performance away from home to register a 4-3 midweek win – Ystrad’s first home defeat in four seasons.

The match began in controversial fashion when Ystrad forward Gareth Thomas netted after dispossessing Bryn keeper Aled Thomas who appeared to have both hands on the ball.

Moments later a borderline offside call went in Bryn's favour as Julian Jones raced clear to score.

Some lacklustre Bryn defending allowed Ystrad to claim a 2-1 half-time lead after an inswinging corner was forced home.

Thomas however pulled off an incredible treble save from Ystrad’s Andrew Miller to keep the visitors in contention at the break.

The second half saw Bryn upping the tempo and a superb 50-yard pass by captain Mark Griffiths set up Mark James for one of the goals of the season as he finished with the outside of his boot from 16 yards.

A Bryn counter put them into the lead as Jones's pace again saw him race clear to score.

The visitors scored their fourth goal after a sweeping move saw the impressive Josh Jones set up James to finish well.

Ystrad scored a late consolation goal as Bryn hung on for a deserved win.
