Division Three West A

Penybanc 25 Bynea 23

After a poor performance the previous week, Penybanc were determined to improve in their penultimate game of the season.

Things started well enough with Tom Gale opening the scoring with a well taken try. Fly-half Mathew Lloyd added the extras before extending the lead with a well-struck penalty.

The visitors, who have been one of the better sides the Tigers have faced this term despite their position in the league hit back soon after before Lloyd added another penalty.

Shortly after, big lock Shaun James powered over under the posts. Again, Lloyd was on target with the conversion to take the hosts in to half time with a 20-7 lead.

But Banc were guilty of taking their foot off the gas in the second half.

The visitors kicked a penalty and scored a lovely try to get themselves right back into it.

A series of powerful Banc scrums followed by some big carries allowed the impressive Gale to grab a second out wide.

That should have been game over but the visitors had other ideas.

Back they came with a try and conversion then with a minute to go scored again in the corner.

In the final play of the day, Bynea attacked from deep but some superb work from flanker Aled Danter saw the Tigers awarded a penalty and the final whistle.

Banc play their last game of the season on May 9 when they entertain Cefneithen.
