Welsh League Division Three

Cwmamman United 4

Ammanford 2

Cwmamman United gained all three points in front of an excellent crowd at Grenig Park against near neighbours Ammanford to maintain the third and final promotion place.

The hosts were dominant throughout and would have been disappointed.

Cwmamman’s opened the scoring from a long throw when Andrew Bonomi’s header gave James Kirkwood no chance.

The hosts were awarded numerous free-kicks in dangerous positions and David Brown’s effort went narrowly past the post while Liam Soroka saw his strike hit the post.

The missed efforts were punished when Ammanford’s centre-half Rhys Owen powered in the equalizer from a corner.

Again and again Cwmamman were denied by the Ammanford defence and the sides went into the break on level terms.

The second half began with the home side on the front foot and they regained the lead after 10 minutes when a thunderous effort from Brown found the roof of the net.

They extended their advantage when Jordan Langley’s fired home from 15 yards.

Ammanford pulled a goal back through Kurtis Morgan, but Cwmamman’s response was immediate as Steven Hughes’s low shot went in off the post to the delight of the home support.
