Division Three

Treowen Stars 0 Cwmamman United 4

Cwmamman United followed up their midweek win over Ammanford with a trip to Treowen Stars and returned from Gwent with all three points thanks to a comfortable victory.

With Llanelli already crowned Division Three champions, the win, coupled with Ammanford’s home defeat by Pontypridd, has opened up the race for second, with Cwmamman now trailing their near neighbours by eight points with three games in hand.

The visitors were ahead after just two minutes when Andrew Bonomi’s header from a Liam Soroka corner gave the home keeper no chance.

Cwmamman doubled their advantage six minutes later when Craig Spring unleashed an unstoppable strike from 25 yards to the delight of the travelling support.

The visitors’ advantage going into the break should have been more impressive, but a poor playing surface only hampered both sides.

The second half saw the hosts struggle to break down a stubborn home defence until the third goal came from the penalty spot when Ashley Johns stepped up to calmly slotted the ball into the net following handball in the box.

Cwmamman made it four with a fine team goal as substitutes Luke Dalling and Aled Bowen linked up well for the latter to net from five yards.

Cwmamman travel to Newport YMCA ON Tuesday, April 28, and then entertain the same opposition on Saturday.
