Division Three West A

Penybanc 21 Nantgaredig 19

Penybanc entertained old rivals Nantgaredig and started with a bang.

After great ball retention from the pack, Banc were awarded a penalty and from a well-worked maul, prop Shaun James went over.

Nant came straight back into it with a couple of penalties before impressive permit full back Steff Andrews went over out wide for the Tigers.

Soon after, the away side were awarded a penalty try when the home defence failed to retreat 10 yards, giving them a 13-10 half-time lead.

Banc again started well in the second half and looked to reclaim the advantage only for the referee to rule out a try.

The sides swapped penalties to bring the scores level at 16-16.

With the hosts in the ascendency, the visitors edged in front with a penalty before a home yellow card made them favourites.

Further Banc indiscipline saw Nant kicking for territory to close the game down, but in the final minute, the homesters pinched a line-out and centre Mathew Brayley burst up the middle before feeding Andrews who delivered the try-scoring pass to veteran wing Christian Hughes.

Penybanc travel to league leaders Pontyberem on Saturday.
