Division Three West C

Betws 56 Mynydd y Garreg 5

Betws continued their bid to reach top of Division 3 West C with another bonus point win over visiting Mynydd y Garreg.

The victory saw the hosts ran in ten tries and moved up to second place in the league.

Flanker Nathan Chapman bagged the first score, converted by outside-half Daniel Griffiths.

There were also tries for hooker Mathew Madge and second row Arwel Davies while wing Ashley Evans score saw the hosts claim the bonus point before half-time.

Betws went into the interval with a 29-0 advantage.

Just after the restart, the visitors lost their outside half to a red card and their chances of mounting any form of comeback evaporated.

Home full back Steffan Howells added a hat-trick of tries, one of which he converted, before further scores from wing Dan Thomas and Madge took the score beyond the 50-point mark.

But it was left to veteran prop Wayne Comley to run in the last try of the day from 30 yards out just before the full time whistle went.

A good win with both forwards and backs getting on the scoresheet

Betws travel to Llansawel on Saturday and with only four games left the race for Division Three West C title looks set to remain a tight affair.
