SWALEC Bowl – Round Four

Swansea Uplands 29 Penybanc 8

Penybanc crashed out of the Swalec Bowl as the Tigers suffered a mauling in the Uplands of Swansea,

Penybanc had gone into the fixture in confident mood as they looked to make progress, but it was pretty obvious from early on in the proceedings that the visitors were not on at their best.

After a bright opening five minutes, some neat breaks and a big scrummaging effort gave the away supporters hope, but against the run of play the Uplands kicked a penalty.

The hosts followed up with a converted try after a Banc error and the game was already slipping from the visitors grasp.

Banc offered some resistance with a Bradley Nicholls penalty before lively scrum-half Owen Williams left several defenders in his wake as he jinked to the line for a superb try.

Sadly, that proved to be the last positive for Banc in a game they never really managed to get a foot hold in.

The second half was just as frustrating with indiscipline costing the away team.

The referee never really let the game flow and the dangerous Penybanc backs struggled to make any real impression on the game.

Ultimately, the home side were good value for their win and took their chances well while the Tigers were left to rue what could only be considered a bad day at the office.

Penybanc have a break this weekend before returning to league action with a trip to Trimsaran.
