Ammanford are set to recommence their Welsh League Division Three campaign with a gruelling schedule of games in January.

The club’s delayed start to the season leaves them facing a massive fixture backlog with Gruff Harrison’s men holding up to ten games in hand over many of their league rivals.

The cause was further disrupted by the postponement of Saturday’s schedule fixture at Caerau.

Ammanford now face four games in 11 days, starting on Tuesday night (January 6) when they host Bettws.

They then travel to Cardiff Corinthians on Saturday before entertaining Caerau in another evening kick-off on Tuesday, January 13.

Both midweek homes games are set to be played under the lights at Briton Ferry/Llansawel.

They follow up by welcoming Pontypridd to the Rec on Saturday, January 17.

Ammanford then face back to back fixtures against Llantwit Major – away on Saturday, January 24, and then at the Rec on January 31.

The energy-sapping schedule is likely to prove a huge ask for the club as suspensions, injuries and player availability, coupled with the inevitable pitch problems due to weather conditions, all kick in.

On a more positive note, the run will give the club the opportunity to close the gap of the sides around them.

Although the club has played just eight games so far this season, they find themselves in seventh position and boast a perfect record with the second-best goal difference in the division.

With eight played and eight won, Ammanford have scored 36 league goals and conceded just ten.

The game against Caerau on January 13 is scheduled to be the club’s final home game under floodlights although any further lost fixtures may see the club again seeking the generosity of recent hosts Briton Ferry/Llansawel.

An Ammanford spokesman said that the club wished to thank everyone who had supported the club and contributed to its running during what has been a very difficult period.
