Welsh League Division Three

Ammanford 3 Panteg 1

In a bad-tempered game which saw three men receive their marching orders, Ammanford climbed above seventh-placed Panteg as they maintained their perfect record in Welsh League Division Three courtesy of a 3-1 win at the Recreational Ground.

The hosts laboured to begin, and in the opening five minutes, Jamie Rano - making his second Ammanford debut - denied the visitors with a low save.

Despite seeming lacklustre with the ball, Ammanford still offered a threat and, on 11 minutes, Craig Frater picked out Mickey Morris at the back post who just headed over.

On 19 minutes, Morris blasted just over when played in by Brett Enoch.

However, a minute later the home side did take the lead.

Frater, who was brought down on the edge of the area, fired home a free kick to give Ammanford the advantage.

Tempers flared when Matthew Fisher was embroiled in a war of words with his opposite number and then the away side’s physical presence caused uproar with the hosts due to a late challenge.

But Fisher used any fire in his belly to give his side the ascendancy. As the goalkeeper was setting up his wall for a free-kick, the quick-thinking forward curled the ball into the empty net to double the home lead.

Hero soon turned villain however, as before the interval, Fisher and an opposing player were sent off for a battle which turned nasty.

Just after the break, Dayle Selvage increased the lead to three when he slotted home following a centre from the left.

On 50 minutes, the deficit was reduced when the visitors let fly from 35 yards to score a thunderbolt of a goal. Panteg pressed on, but Rano once again denied them.

With 30 minutes left, Enoch appeared to be felled by the visiting keeper after rounding him, but was booked for simulation. Panteg then had an appeal for a penalty turned down on 72 minutes.

Late on, the heavy challenges continued and when Selvage was sent into the air from a high tackle, the visitors were reduced to nine in what was a heated affair.
