Ammanford 3 Cwm Welfare 2

Brett Enoch helped the 10 men of Ammanford mount an stunning comeback on Tuesday night to defeat Cwm Welfare 3-2.

Ammanford started well with Ashley Richards going close after latching onto the rebound when Craig Frater’s long-range free-kick was parried by the Welfare keeper.

On 14 minutes, the hosts managed to bundle the ball into the gaping goal only for the referee to award a free-kick for the challenge on the keeper.

The visitors managed to get their first attempt on goal on 19 minutes, when their striker met a long ball forward, but could only blast over.

The first half petered out with the only other effort coming on the whistle when defender Rhys Owen stuck out a leg to poke a free-kick just wide.

After the interval, the game kicked into life.

Five minutes into the half, Owen was the saviour as he headed the ball away just short of the line. It counted for little though, as a minute later the away team headed a set-piece into the top corner to take the lead.

Two minutes after, Frater rattled his own free-kick against the framework.

Ammanford struggled to penetrate the Cwm defence, but when they managed to have a clear cut chance, Ben Soal blasted the golden opportunity high over the bar.

Two introductions by manager Gruff Harrison saw a sudden change, as the pace of Brett Enoch on the wing saw the hosts earn a penalty when he was brought down inside the area. Frater duly slotted home with 20 minutes remaining.

But the game was turned on its head when Owen was given his marching orders for a sliding challenge in his own box. The visitors then retook the lead from the spot.

With seven minutes remaining, Enoch earned another penalty when he was again felled, and Frater scored the third penalty of the match to set up a tense finish.

But, Enoch wasn’t done and in the dying embers of the game his marauding run down the left saw him trick his way past his marker before squaring for Richards to slot home the winner.
