Division Three West A

Bynea 36 Llandybie 3

Llandybie travelled to Bynea for their first match after the autumn series, but were lacking most of their back line due to work commitments and were forced to bring in some permit players.

The forwards however were at full strength and had the better of Bynea in the scrums, but struggled in the line-out.

Bynea tried to intimidate and three yellow cards and a red showed their intent.

Carwyn Richards missed two early penalties for Llandybie and the Bynea No 8 was shown a yellow card for body checking, but the hosts were able to break away soon after to score in the corner.

Another yellow put Bynea down to 13 men and they no sooner had the No 8 back than another yellow was flashed for foul play.

Richards slotted the penalty for the infringement, but good play by Bynea saw their centre slice through the cover to score under the posts to give them a 12–3 lead at half-time.

Little did Llandybie know what was to come after half-time.

The visitors lost hooker Rhys Cann and prop Keenan Jones with knee injuries to be replaced by Matthew Meredith and Eathan Walters. The scrum-half had a lively game and was probably their best player on the day.

However in 20 second-half minutes Bynea ran in four unanswered tries with poor Llandybie tackling the culprit.

The hosts meanwhile had a solid midfield which Llandybie simply could not breach.

After the early pounding, Llandybie regrouped and for the next 20 minutes kept Bynea in their own half.

The visitors had some chances out wide and Daf Nicholas and Josh Cranfield went close but Bynea always found cover.

Llandybie did have two two-on-ones but the pass did not come.

Late on, Bynea had their No 5 red-carded for a punch on Mike Tench, which left the flanker needing stitches and unable to play any further part.
