Division Two West Central
Maesteg 36 Cwmgors 0
Cwmgors came up short against a very decent Maesteg side who now head the Division Two West Central table after another convincing victory.
Maesteg hold lofty ambitions, with Premier Division rugby in their immediate sights, and with their current squad, fine pitch and excellent facilities the club is certainly ready for any step-up in grade.
Cwmgors must have feared the worst, being forced to travel with a number of unavailable regulars due to various injuries and work commitments.
But they tried their hearts out, tackling like demons against a rampant home tide.
Maesteg had built up a 22-0 interval lead and were always too strong for a plucky Cherries outfit.
Cwm did have a few sporadic openings, but failed to cross the whitewash when they had a sniff of it.
In a mostly rearguard action, Cwmgors’ Ethan Price emerged as their man of the match.
Cwmgors take a break this Saturday, returning at home against another top-four side in the form of Aberavon Quins on December 20.
