Carmarthenshire League Reserve Division Two

Ammanford 6 West End 1

Another game, another victory for Ammanford as they retained their lead at the top of Reserve Division Two.

However, the hosts made tough work of this encounter and at times looked unlikely to get the victory before a strong second half saw the three points sealed with five impressive goals.

Ammanford started slowly with West End playing some good, possession football and Ammanford's defence of Lloyd Bevan, Jack Conway, Dylan Thomas and Matt Warnes were called on many times but produced some strong tackles and vital interceptions.

Wingers Jake Webb and Owain Jones proved a threat down the flanks for Ammanford, but could not break the deadlock.

West End took the lead through a long-range free kick which looped into the net, but the goal brought Ammanford into life and they equalised soon after through Simon Pritchard, who got his first of the day following up on Liam Wolley's powerful shot, to ensure the half ended 1-1.

With the setting sun against them, Ammanford turned up the heat and scored early in the second half through Kyle Wells who finished calmly with his weaker foot following a powerful run.

The game then went quiet with Ammanford beginning to play possession football, with goalkeeper Jake Baker also getting involved and producing some fine passes from between the sticks.

Nathan Spowart was a hassle for the visitors' defence all game, and got a deserved goal when he headed in Warnes' cross.

The fourth came courtesy of Warnes, who's intended cross looped over the keeper and found the net for his first of the season.

Pritchard bagged his second when he struck a low shot beyond the helpless keeper.

Youngsters Steffan Butler and Aled Denning came on and helped set up Scott Howells who finished calmly to get his first for the team.

Ammanford remain on top of the league and travel to Kidwelly next week.
