Campbell scores brace as Rovers seal comeback win Carmarthenshire League Reserve Division Two THE top of the league clash provided an even contest that saw both sides taking a point to maintain momentum at the top.

The game started evenly with Pontarddulais missing a few chances but Ammanford having chances of their own. Youngsters Scott Howell and Steff Butler had their first starts and both worked tirelessly for the team.

Owain Jones had many chances to score but couldn’t get the goal he very much deserved for his performance.

Ammanford broke the deadlock through Nathan Spowart, who broke through the defence after a superb piece of play by Lloyd Bevan, beating two men before finding his striker. Spowart’s shot went through the hosts’ keeper and gave Ammanford the advantage.

The rest of the half saw increased pressure from the hosts who provided difficult tasks for defenders Jack Conway and Matt Warnes.

Hedd-Wyn Jones was also on guard between the sticks and reliable when called upon.

Ammanford went into the break with a goal lead.

The second half started with Ammanford playing against the wind and being under pressure. Kyle Wells provided a dogged display in centre midfield and provided chances which the visitors couldn’t take.

The home side got a goal back when a deadly cross found its way to the net. With the game looking set for a draw, Ammanford regained the lead. Jake Webb came on and won a throw deep in the Pontarddulais half. Warnes’ throw found left winger Rhys Williams who nodded home.

With time to go and tiredness showing the home side pushed for an equaliser and managed to score with ten minutes to go.

With the worsening conditions and both sides tired out, both were happy to gain a point. Ammanford continue to impress in the league and will look to keep the momentum away to
