Llandovery is set to become home to a new off-road event which is likely to the Towy Valley well and truly on the cycling map.
Kinesis UK Cross Mountain is the first ever Cross Mountain event, which is open to both Cyclocross and Mountain Bikes in a non-competitive format.
With the cross season in full swing, Cross Mountain offers riders a chance to ride their skinny-tyred bike on terrain a little more challenging than your average school playing field.
One of the men behind the new event is Towy Valley endurance cycling king, Matthew Page.
"If you don't own a cross bike, then a mountain bike will do just fine and the terrain will still be challenging enough for all," said Page.
With distance options of 35km and 55km available to suit all riders, each is a single lap offering a fun, challenging course offering a diverse mix of fantastic single-track, forested trails and areas of private land only open to riders for the event.
Riders will cross into the Brecon Beacons National Park with incredible views across Llyn y Fan and the Carmarthenshire hills.
A spokesman for event sponsor Kinesis UK said: "We are very happy to support this innovative event in its first year.
“Kinesis UK has been a driving force in UK designed cross bikes for more than a decade. In 2012 our Pro6 model was one of the first disc specific cross bikes.
"A Cyclocross/MTB format really suits our brand and the new 'Tripster ATR' [Adventure, Tour, Race] bike which is designed for disc-brakes and clearance for fast rolling larger tyres is a bike built for adventure and hungry for an event like the Cross-Mountain.
"Roll on November 9th”.
Entries for the event are limited and only available online at the Cross Mountain website. Entries will close on Wednesday, November 9, with the event due to take place on November 9.
