Division Three West A
Penybanc 55 Tumble 31
In perfect rugby conditions, Penybanc Tigers claimed a memorable scalp with an emphatic win over the Magpies.
The young visitors started brightly with a well-struck penalty before reliable full-back Wayne Williams hit a great angle and rounded his opposite number for the opening try. Owen Higgins added the extras before following up with a penalty of his own.
Number 8 Chris Jones crashed over shortly after before back row colleague Dane Bush found a gap to go over.
The Banc scrum was in complete control and Jones barged over from short range for his second for a 31-3 half-time lead.
It was more of the same for the Tigers in the second half with flanker Aled Danter proving to be the scourge of the Tumble pack with a solid shift while centre James Turrell was at his hard-running best punching holes at will.
Jones soon claimed his hat-trick and a big score was on the cards.
However, the Magpies had not read the script and showed a lot of guts to grab four tries and a deserved bonus point after a red card for the Tigers.
The outstanding Jones added another two to take his total to five while Bush went over again after more good work from Turrell.
The half-back pairing of Owen Williams and Mathew Lloyd continue to impress, as do the young front row.
Higgins ended with a personal haul of 15 points with Jones, Danter and Turrell all outstanding.
Penybanc travel to Lampeter next week
