Carmarthenshire League Reserve Division Two

West End Utd 1 Ammanford 4

Following last week’s cup disappointment, Ammanford leapt to the top of Reserve Division Two with a convincing win over West End.

The visitors started superbly, with Simon Pritchard returning to anchor the midfield and dictate play.

Ammanford took the lead midway through the first half when Liam Wolley headed in a Nathan Spowart corner.

Spowart terrorised the hosts’ defence all afternoon and his presence lead to the second goal when a Dylan Thomas long throw caused havoc in the box leading to a West End defender heading into his own net.

Tne third came shortly after when the influential Pritchard picked out Elgan Griffiths who finished calmly for his first goal in the Ammanford black and white.

The hosts pressed in search of a comeback, but defenders Lloyd Bevan and Matt Warnes remained calm under pressure to ensure that the visitors went into the break with a 3-0 lead.

After a poor second half last week, Ammanford were determined not to fall victim to the same problem this time around and they maintained their momentum with Jake Webb causing havoc down the left flank.

Ammanford continued to dominate, but the hosts got a goal back when a goal-mouth scramble following a free-kick ended with the ball in the back of the Ammanford net.

Despite conceding, the young Ammanford side continued to press for a fourth and they got their reward when Jack Conway headed home from a Kyle Wells corner.

Ammanford held out for an impressive three points to climb to the top of the table ahead of the visit of Felinfoel next week.
