Carmarthenshire League Reserve Division Two

Ammanford 2 Pontarddulais 0

Ammanford continued their push for promotion with a decisive victory over visiting Pontarddulais.

The first half witnessed an even contest with both teams adapting to the warm weather and hard

pitch. The hosts defence of Lloyd Bevan, Jack Conway, Josh Davies and Matt Warnes again provided a solid platform for the attackers and kept any potential chances for Pontarddulais to a minimum.

Nathan Spowart, Elgan Griffiths and Aled Denning all had opportunities to take the lead but the visiting keeper had other ideas. The first half ended goalless with the young Ammanford side looking to improve.

Following the break, Ammanford stepped up their performance with Gavin Thomas and Simon Pritchard dominating the midfield.

Eventually the first goal of the game came through Jack Skoczen who fired home after Bevan's free-kick caused havoc in the box.

Despite having the goal lead and looking destined to claim the three points, the hosts were still under pressure with goalkeeper Jason Nel having to make some important saves.

The games was eventually settled when Kyle Wells broke through the visitors' defence to finish well and seal the victory.

This important victory keeps the promotion push alive for the young Ammanford team who host Burry Port in a cup game next week.
