Ammanford 2 Llandovery 1

After two defeats in a week, Ammanford hosted Llandovery in a game that saw the home side gain their first points and victory of the season.

Llandovery started the better and put the pressure on Ammanford's goalkeeper Steffan Thomas, who was resilient throughout.

But despite playing the better, the visitors could not break down the Ammanford defence of Jack Beech, Jac Price, Joseph Thomas and Scott Jones.

After 20 minutes, Ammanford started to take control with captain Allen George and the skilful Ben Rees providing chances for strikers Callum Isaac and Cian Anderson.

With half-time approaching, Ammanford gave one last push and their efforts were rewarded with a stunning 35-yard strike from Beech which looped into the top corner and left the Llandovery keeper left helpless.

Ammanford dominated the opening spells of the second half with Harry Thomas, Joseph Smith and Rhodri Bowen giving their all.

Ciaran Slee came into the back four and cleared any threatening attacks from the opposition. Wingers Tom Evans and Ioan Rees provided good performances on the flanks.

Despite looking comfortable for the majority of the half, Ammanford switched off for a five-minute period that proved costly as Llandovery took their chance and levelled to set up a tense final ten minutes.

With a draw seeming likely, Ammanford piled on the pressure.

Sam Evans provided the spark, finding Ben Rees on the edge of the box.

As the visitors retreated, Rees dinked the ball lightly over the defenders leg and as it sat up, smashed a stunning strike into the top corner.

Ammanford held on for the final five minutes to secure the three points.

Next week, Ammanford travel to Calsonic expecting a tough encounter.
