West Wales Women’s League
Ammanford Ladies 0 Dafen Ladies 14
Newly-formed Ammanford Ladies suffered a baptism of fire as they made their debut in the West Wales Women’s League hosting Dafen in their first fixture of the season.
The early exchanges were fairly even until Dafen opened their account on 15 minutes. The visitors’ second followed soon after.
Ammanford defended resolutely for the remainder of the half were unable to stop the scoring when they conceded a penalty.
The best goal of the half came when a corner found the Dafen centre-half unmarked on the edge of the box. She met the ball with a sweetly struck volley that nestled in the top corner.
The second half started with Dafen continuing to pile on the pressure and the visitors scored regularly throughout the half thanks to some fine team play and good individual performances, aided by some inexperienced and tired defending from the hosts.
Ammanford refused to give up however with every player giving their all and battling until the final whistle.
Ammanford face a difficult season ahead against a number of well-established teams, but the learning steep learning curve will undoubtedly prove worthwhile.
