Girls Football – U12s

Pontarddulais 1 Ammanford 9

Ammanford U12s started with a bang in their first league game of the season as they quickly went one up after Llian Scott broke through the defence and her shot was deflected into the net against Pontarddulais.

Ammanford doubled their advantage soon after as Scott finished well from a rebounded Faye Duncan effort.

Despite having only six players against their opponents seven, the away team saw a lot of possession and with Shannon Thomas enjoying a great first half in goal.

Ammanford played some good football and the chances kept coming.

Their third came when Ffion Jones struck from a Duncan corner, and the fourth was neatly slotted home by Scott after some fine interplay with Ffion Jones.

Number five was another own goal - the ball ricocheting around the goalmouth and into the net after a powerful strike from Duncan, who then added the sixth a good solo effort.

Ammanford’s final goal of the half was created by Elin Hendra, who won the ball in midfield before sliding a pass to captain Nell Edwards to finish low into the corner.

The second half was lower scoring but none the less exciting with Ammanford still having lots of possession and creating chances.

Shannon Thomas went close with powerfully struck free-kick that was blocked on the line.

An Edwards volley from the edge of area accounted for the eighth, and she bagged her hat-trick later in the half with the best move of the game, with Hendra cutting the final ball back for Edwards to fire into the net.
