Division Three West A

Penybanc 44 Trimsaran 20

Penybanc roared back into action with a clinical performance against a very good Trimsaran side.

The away side opened the scoring early on and were soon 8-0 up after a converted penalty.

Banc hit back soon after with Chris Jones crashing over, and minutes later the player-coach again was the architect after a strong run for fly-half Mathew Lloyd to go over. Owen Higgins added the extras.

Indiscipline from Trim resulted in Banc extending their lead with a well-struck Higgins penalty before Jones crashed over for his second.

The reliable Higgins added the extras for a 22-8 half-time lead.

The Tigers started the second half well with the hard-running James Turrell causing the visiting defence all sorts of problems and Mathew Lloyd controlling the game superbly.

A Turrell midfield break saw Lloyd deliver a delightful pass for skipper Adrian Pugh to feed Wayne Williams for the crucial bonus point try and to end the game as a contest.

Banc were not finished though and it was that man Jones again providing the initial burst and neat offload for wing Andy McCall to touch down. Once again, Higgins improved on it.

Trim showed what they could do, scoring two quick-fire tries but it was Banc that would have the final word with player coach Owen Williams sniping from a ruck and going over under the posts. Once more, Higgins converted.

To be fair to Trim, injuries hampered their cause but this was a great performance for the Tigers with the new signings all impressing.

On Saturday, Banc head to Cefneithen before enjoying a week off due to a cup bye.
