Neath’s Kevin Jeffrey took the £1,000 first prize at the fourth annual Clwb Godre’r Mynydd Du Darts Open in Glanaman on Saturday.

Darters converged from all parts of Wales for the event as well as from over the English border to ensure the standard of play was extremely high throughout.

Bowing out at the quarter finals were Mike Huntley (Bridgend), Grant Howells (Tenby), Steve Perry (Cardiff) and Jeff Thomas (Aberdare).

The first semi final went all the way with Swindon’s Mark Thompson holding his nerve to pip Pontyberem’s Johnny Clayton 5-4 in a sudden death shoot-out leg.

The second semi saw Jeffrey take on regular visitor Kelvin Painter from Llanelli, and again, the best-of–nine encounter went all the way. The Neath man nicking a 5-4 verdict in a thriller.

The best of 11-leg final proved a rather one-sided affair.

Jeffrey’s clinical scoring and quality finishing proved too hot for the Swindon thrower as he ran out a convincing 6-0 victor.

The furthest lady prize went to Cwmllynfell’s Natalie Evans, while Michael Rowlands (Lampeter) took the highest out cheque. Clayton notched the lowest number of darts prize.

The event organisers wish to thank all after another hugely successful tournament, particularly the sponsors, without whom the event would not be possible.
