Cwmgors' undefeated light-welterweight champion is to face his toughest fight to date when he tops the bill at the Liverpool Echo Arena next month.

Welsh star Chris Jenkins will face captain of the London 2012 Olympic team Tom Stalker for an eliminator ahead of a bid for the British Light-Welterweight title at the Magnificent Seven Fight Again event on Saturday, October 25.

Fully recovered from a muscle injury to his upper-left arm, the Amman Valley hitman has every confidence the he will be moving a step closer to the belt when he faces Stalker.

Describing his fighting style as just, different, family man Jenkins is keeping to a gruelling training regime which includes weeks of sparring with top athletes.

“I’ve trained hard for this fight – despite suffering an injury," said the dad of twins.

“I will attack this fight like all my previous fights.

"I may be considered the underdog with Stalker fighting in front of his home crowd, but I’m mentally and physically at the top of my game.”

Jenkins shot to fame when he came out of nowhere to claim the Sky TV/Matchroom Prizefighter title at York Hall in Bethnal Green - the spiritual home of British boxing last summer.

The 26-year-old has an unblemished record - his last fight saw him despatch Miguel Aguilar with a seventh-round knockout.

Jenkins' victory over the Nicaraguan was his 15th straight win and he will look to extend his perfect record against fellow unbeaten Liverpudlian Stalker, who boasts eight victories from as many fights.

“I’m confident I’m going to win - this is my time," said Jenkins.

“The plan is to win this fight then I then get a shot at the British title.”

The youngest boxer to represent Wales at two Commonwealth Games, in Melbourne and Delhi, Jenkins also boxed at the World Championships.

After 15 professional fights, it is the British title that Jenkins has set firmly in his sights.

Trainer Ronnie Morris, said: “He’s ranked 17 in the world with the WBC, this fight won’t faze him.

“After 15 bouts Chris hasn’t lost a round and he doesn’t intend to start now.

“This is definitely his toughest fight to date but I’m confident he will go all the way.

“There’s no doubt that it will be tough, but I’m sure Chris will come out stronger in the later rounds.”

A victory in Liverpool will see Jenkins face current light-welterweight British champion, Scotland's Willie Limond.
