Gwaun cae Gurwen 85 Briton Ferry Town 75
Gwaun cae Waun entertained Briton Ferry Town knowing a win would go a long way in their search of promotion.
But after five ends the Waun found themselves well behind at 11–21 with their Number One rink trailing by ten shots.
However, the Waun realised their predicament and over the next five ends upped their game considerably to go into the tea break leading 44- 33
As bowlers know this break can disrupt the momentum gained before the break and in a topsy-turvy game, and the Town fought back to lead by 59- 56 after 15 ends.
The game remained a close contest with the Town leading by 68–66 after 18 ends, but the Waun outscored the Town over the next three ends by 19–7.
The host ultimately claimed victory 85–75.
The win saw them collect ten league points to the Town’s two.
The total means that the Waun have now achieved their target of promotion and leaves them requiring just a further six points away at Ystalyfera on Saturday, September 13, to ensure they end the season as champions.
