Carmarthen Wanderers (150-3) beat Ammanford (146-8) by seven wickets

Ammanford slipped to a disappointing seven-wicket defeat at the hands of the Wanderers.

Ammanford opened the batting and appeared to be making steady progress until opener Jamies Evans fell for 13 to make it 37-1.

Fellow opener Huw Jenkins was back in the hutch without Ammanford adding to the score and it was left to Harri Jones to steady the ship.

The visiting Number Three top-scored for Ammanford as he stroked his way to 30 but his companions in the middle fell at regular intervals.

Jones himself was out with the score at 101 for five.

Rhy Jones held his own, adding 25 to the total, but Ammanford’s innings came to a close at 146 for eight.

The hosts came in an made short work of the total.

Kevin Jones carried his bat and hit 63 as Carmarthen made it 150 in just 36.3 overs.

The result leaves Ammanford in a comfortable mid-table spot as the season draws to a close, one place and 18 points ahead of Wanderers.
