Llanelli and District Bowls

Cwmaman 61 Wheatsheaf 64.5

Cwmaman saw another potential victory ripped from their grasp late on as visiting Wheatsheaf held on to snatch the win in the Llanelli and District Bowls League.

With only skip Byron Davies’ four staring at defeat as the teams entered the final ends, the hosts remained hopeful of the win with the other three rinks still in the hunt.

Ultimately however, victories on rinks Two and Three were unable to make up the deficit on the nine-point loss for Davies’ four.

But the visitors held their nerve to run out winners by a narrow margin.

The win ensured Wheatsheaf claimed ten league points while Cwm took a consolation four for their efforts.

Rink scores:

Rink Two: John Milbourne, Julie Williams, Matthew Edwards, James Davies (skip) 16; J Davies 11.25.

Rink Three: Mike Williams, Dave Mills, Gareth Williams, Alan Thomas (skip) 19; A Thomas 14.

Rink Four: Norman Raeburn, Simon Hawker, Tom Jones, Byron Davies (skip) 11; AH Davies 20.

Rink Five: Alec Leslie, Tony Bray, Peter Lees, John Sam Jones (skip) 15; P Francis 19.
