SWCA Reserve Division One
Ammanford (168-8) Tata Steel (152)
Ammanford seconds gained a thrilling 16-run victory over league leaders Tata Steel at the Park on Saturday.
Skipper Nathan Jones won the toss and confidently elected to bat.
His openers John Jones (44) and Jamie Evans (29) gave the hosts a solid start of 66 which Huw Jenkins built on with a positively-struck 58.
The remainder of the team failed to capitalise on this start and Ammanford faltered to 168 for eight.
Tata’s Peter Doyle took six for 41.
Tight, accurate bowling from Ammanford ensured a regular fall of wickets, and the game looked won with Tat on 105 for nine.
However, a last wicket stand of 47 looked capable of stealing it for the visitors before man of the match Jenkins returned to the attack and took the last wicket.
