SWCA Thomas Carroll Insurance 2nd XI – Division One

Ammanford (229-6) drew with Carmarthen Wanderers (180-8)

Ammanford’s second string got the better of a draw against Carmarthen Wanderers at the Park on Saturday.

Emulating the senior team, they won the toss and elected to bat.

Father and son opening pair Jeff and Jamie Evans gave them a half-century start, but the star of the Ammanford show was undoubtedly Nathan Jones, whose 106 included nine fours and a six.

Jones was ably supported by Ben Ledger who struck 52 as Ammanford closed on a formidable 229 for six.

Carmarthen’s batsmen were inexplicably unable to come to grips with the spin bowling of Evans senior, who took four for 41.

But neither were Ammanford able to take all the Carmarthen wickets and they had to settle for a winning draw as Carmarthen survived on 180 for eight.
