Cwmgors RFC juniors put the village on the map at the annual Minehead “Tigers Challenge” tournament recently.

The Amman Valley youngsters earned plenty of praise and plaudits not to mention silverware against very strong English and Welsh opposition.

The intense weekend of rugby saw impressive and committed performances against some formidable opposition with quality teamwork and plenty of fluid moves from the young guns earning them the respect of all those present.

The youngsters’ efforts were all the more commendable considering they suffered a number of injuries and were playing under the unfamiliar rules of the English Rugby Union.

The Cwmgors Under-7s were triumphant in their Bowl competition while the Under-10s brought home the shield for their age group.

The Under-9s meanwhile suffered the heartbreak of losing by a single point in their semi-final to come third out of 22 teams.
