Neath and District League
Premier Division Cup Final
Ynysmeudwy Athletic 0 Ystradgynlais 1
Ynysmeudwy Athletic met Ystradgynlais in the Neath and District Premier Division Cup Final at Briton Ferry and were devasted to come away second best when the trophy was within their grasp.
The sides played out a goalless first half with the Athletic looking more than a match for the opposition.
With just 20 minutes left to play Ystrad took the lead with what would prove the decisive goal.
Ynys battled in search of an equaliser and continued to create most of the pressure – as they had done throughout proceedings.
They pushed Ystrad to the final whistle in a game which could have gone either way, but failed to find the crucial goal to push the game into extra time.
With the season over Ynmys will now take a well-earned break and would welcome new and returning players to their ranks ahead of the new season.
The club’s annual presentation ceremony is due to be held on May 31 at the clubhouse. The event is due to start at 2pm.
