Carruthers WBA Shield Bowls

Llanelli 111 Cwmamman 61

Cwmamman opened their Carruthers Shield campaign in defeat at Llanelli.

However, the visitors always faced an uphill task after arriving at Llanelli a full four players short, forcing them to play four rinks of three men and losing a quarter of all shots deducted.

Cwm’s quest for new players continues and anyone interested in joining is asked to come along on a Tuesday or Thursday on club nights at Cwmamman Park (6pm) to try out.

Cwm did at least manage to win one rink under victorious skip John Sam Jones.

Rink scores

Rink One: D Williams, B Mawzurski, D Davies, P Duntley 29; Simon Hawker, Norman Raeburn, Byron Davies (skip) 12.

Rink Two: R Griffiths, M Pugh, L Williams, A Bowen 30; John Milbourne, Alun Morris, Alan Thomas (skip) 16.

Rink Three: A Jones, A Brown, I Jones, A Bowyer 15; Tony Bray, Matthew Edwards, John Sam Jones (skip) 19.

Rink Four: M Roberts, A Evans, L Bosey, C Samuel 37; James Davies, Gareth Williams, Peter Jones (skip) 14.

Cwmamman visit Cross Hands – also in the Carruthers Shield - on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Cwmamman Vets, who managed to defeat Tybie last week by three shots, travel to Burry Port on Thursday.
