PENYBANC Panthers piled up the points in front of a bumper crowd to book a place in the final at Llandovery against Haverfordwest on Saturday, May 31.

The young Penybanc side looked focused from the start – Brittony Price crossing the whitewash in the 11th minute and Catrin Rees adding the two points before the formidable back row of Chloe Davies, Dayna Mepham and Angharad Edwards combined well for the latter to score.

Some great running rugby allowed winger Leanne McBeth to cross over in the 30th minute, Rees again adding the extras – then Edwards scored her second try.

With the interval approaching, Price created an opportunity for herself to score her second and Rees converted to make the half-time score 31-0.

The Panthers maintained their dominance, scrum half Rees crossing the line a minute into the second half and adding the conversion.

Eight minutes later Rees evaded the opposition to register her second try which she again converted.

Influential centre Fabiana O’Callaghan scored a great solo try on 50 minutes. The set play was going particularly well with hooker Sophia Klitou finding her jumper on every occasion.

The Panthers saved their best try until last when some delightful handling saw Eleri “The Enforcer” Jones bolt over to score, Rees duly adding the extras.

Panthers full back Alaw Hughes secured the player of the game award.

l A supporters bus will by going to Llandovery RFC on Saturday, May 31.
