A Brynaman Kung Fu king has achieved his black sash at just 14 years of age.

Tomos Lewis took up the sport at the age of ten and has made incredible progress thanks to his training regime at Black Mountain Kung Fu Club under the guidance of Simon Griffiths.

Tomos has barely missed a session during his four years of training and has worked tirelessly – even taking on extra lessons – on his journey to attaining the Black Sash.

His was finally awarded the honour after assessment in Southampton under the scrutiny of Eighth Dan Master Carl Coppini in Southampton in April.

While at the grading session, Tomos was also able to successfully complete his instructor course and will now be able to tutor students of his own.

“Tomos has been an inspiration,” said Simon.

“He has trained so hard and fully deserves his achievement.

“Everyone at the club is incredibly proud of him.”
