WRU Women’s Super Cup Semi Final Sunday May 11th 2014 Penybanc Panthers v Nantyffyllon Penybanc Panthers are gearing up for the biggest game of the side’s short history when they take on Nantyffyllon in the semi-final of the Wonmen’s Super Cup on Sunday, May 11.

While their male counterparts are already preparing their summer break, the Panthers are still beating the training ground hard and hope to extend their season even further with a place in the season’s showpiece finale within their sights.

The young Penybanc side has excelled in the cup competition less than a year after forming and find themselves just one game away from what will prove a magnificent climax to what has already been a superb season.

The Panthers will go into the game in confident mood having already beaten their opponents in the league and cup earlier in the season, but know they cannot rest on previous results to see them through.

The club’s director of girl’s and women’s rugby Hywel Thomas told the Guardian that the side are totally focused on the job in hand.

“There’s been a great buzz around the club in anticipation for this game,” said Thomas.

“The girls have really put all their efforts into this game and I’m confident that if we can deliver to the team’s potential we will have a finals day to look forward to. “The introduction of women’s rugby has been such a positive for the club and this will be the icing on the cake to complete our first term.”

The team are appealing to all rugby fans in the area to come and show their support for the only women’s team in the Amman Valley.

“The girls truly believe they will be representing all 10,000 residents of Ammanford and the surrounding area come the big game,” said Thomas.

“We are hoping that everyone will come along and roar the Panthers to victory.” Panthers captain Catrin Rees said: “We are so proud of our achievements this year and are really looking forward to the game with Nantyffyllon.

“We are asking that everyone makes an effort to come and support us and spur us on to the final.”

The game kicks off at 2.30pm at Penybanc RFC.
